Course Objectives

The Certificate IV in Security Risk Management incorporates Leadership and Management skills with the process for the development, implementation and evaluation of a security risk management plan based on the principles of ISO 31000:2009 (Risk management).

The qualification is the one of the most sought after Nationally recognised Qualifications within the security industry.

The Certificate IV in Security Risk Management incorporates an assessment of potential risks facing an organisation and the development of strategies and plans to mitigate risk situations through elimination, isolation and protection.

Participants receive comprehensive learning materials, a copy of ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management and trainer support. Presented using a combination of in class and external study or external only with an immediate start.

Designed For

Those with little or no understanding of risk management or those persons who want to extend their knowledge and experience in the field of managing risk strategically in the context of their current employment or to improve future employment opportunities through formal qualifications.
This qualification is about providing the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to manage risk strategically; it is not intended to cover every facet of Risk Management planning and implementation.

Prerequisites Stipulated By The RTO

Must live in and have a Western Australian residential address.
Applicants must demonstrate the basic language, literacy and numeracy required at this level. A LLN assessment may be conducted at pre-enrolment to assess whether the applicant requires LLN support for this training
Participants may choose to undertake an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors prior to committing to their enrolment in this qualification
It is expected that the candidate has a strong background working in the Security Industry (minimum five (5) years.
Basic to intermediate computer skills are also required for entry into this qualification.

Course Structure

The course is presented via a combination of structured tutorials, workshops, case studies, video, practical assignments and workplace application. Individual and group work activities and assessment activities are conducted throughout the course. This qualification is delivered over a minimum period of 80 hours student – trainer contact as implemented by the WA Police Licensing, Security Services.
All trainers and assessors are recognised industry experts, holding relevant experience and training qualifications. They include security industry specialists, former serving police officers, military personnel and emergency response and medical specialists.

How Is The Course Delivered?

The course will be delivered over a minimum of 24 weeks, with class attendance of 24 days, each with 8 hours of face to face delivery.

An initial 5 days of classroom attendance is required to commence the course; this is for those who are not seeking RPL any units of competency; this is to deliver the initial course content. A further mandatory attendance of 19 days is allocated for face to face communication sessions with students to assist in developing the Security and Risk Management plan and ensure that supervised hours are being met.

Nominal training hours for this Qualification equals to 482 hours, which is broken down into 192 hours of supervised instruction and 300 hours of unsupervised activities in the development of a Risk Management Plan.

We understand that you may lead a high stress and fast paced life regardless of the industry you are currently in, so this course is delivered and completed by two methods; face to face of one day per week and a self-paced development of a final project throughout the course.

A training and assessment diary may be completed at enrolment or on completion of the face to face delivery phase to ensure that you are staying on track with your course completion. The point being, you complete your much needed qualification regardless of current circumstance or time restraints from where ever you are in Australia. You may also be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

You will have access to our highly qualified industry experienced Trainer who can provide you with guidance to assist you with completion time frames for each unit to suit your study goals! You also have access to the Trainer throughout your study period to answer any questions you may have or help you overcome any stumbling blocks you may encounter.

Assessment

To achieve a nationally recognised qualification, participants are required to complete an assessment project, complete course readings and written assessments. Assessment details will be provided with course materials.

Recognition of Prior Learning – RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning is available to persons who have extensive experience in the Security/Law Enforcement and related fields. If you have over 5 years experience in the security industry together with consulting and management experiences, you should consider the RPL process by undertaking a self-assessment against the competency standards of this qualification.
Assessment is conducted via a detailed portfolio of evidence, workbook, questions and written scenarios to support your claim for RPL. Further information about the RPL process will be explained prior to enrolment with any of our training assessor. Where you and your Impact assessor can identify if there are any requirements for further training, you may choose to do this through the completion of individual units (at an additional fee)

PAYMENT SCHEDULE OF STUDENT FEES FOR COURSES OVER $1,500

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are required to adhere to a strict regimen that specifies how they can collect student fees. These prescribed conditions determine the amounts and frequencies of payment.

The minimum option for payments you must agree to undertake is:

Stage 1: Enrolment and commencement, you pay $100 (administration fee is non-refundable)

Stage 2: Week two of the course, you pay the balance of fees due.

Minimum cost to reserve your position is $100, administration is non-refundable for cancellation of attendance for a training course no less than 5 working days prior to course commencement, to cover administration costs.

​All cancellations within 5 days of course commencement are non-refundable unless otherwise discussed with CQMC staff, where training may be transferred to alternative date.
